The short version: it is a free app and we run nothing.

1. Who you are agreeing with

Sidekala Oy, a company registered in Finland, publishes Naastenka for macOS and iPhone and operates the website at naastenka.sideka.la. “We” and “us” mean that company; “you” means whoever is using the app. Installing or using Naastenka means you accept these terms. If you do not, delete it — there is nothing else to unwind.

2. What the app is, and what it is not

Naastenka is a client. It reads and writes notes on a server that you or somebody you know operates. We do not host boards, we do not relay messages, we do not store notes, and we provide no online service of any kind that the app depends on.

It follows that we cannot promise your board will work, be reachable, be fast, or still have yesterday’s notes on it. Everything of that sort is a property of a machine we have no connection to.

3. Your licence

You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Naastenka on devices you own or control, for as long as you keep to these terms. You may not resell it, rent it, or pass off a modified copy as ours. Copies obtained through the App Store are also subject to Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement; where the two disagree about an App Store copy, Apple’s terms win.

4. What you write

Your notes are yours. We claim no rights over them, and since they never reach us we could not exercise any if we did. You are responsible for what you write and for the consequences of sending it to a board other people can read.

Do not use Naastenka to break the law, to harass somebody, to distribute material you have no right to distribute, or to reach a server you have not been given access to. We cannot enforce that — we cannot see any of it — but it is the basis on which the app is offered, and it is the operator of a board who can act on it.

5. Boards you were invited to

An invite gives you the address and password of somebody else’s machine. Treat it that way: their rules apply, they can remove your access, and anything you put there is in their hands. We are not a party to that arrangement.

6. No warranty

Naastenka is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it is free of defects or that it will keep working after an operating system update. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law in the country you live in, which apply whatever this page says.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for anything that happens on a server we do not operate. Naastenka is free of charge and carries no purchases, so where liability cannot be excluded it is limited to what you paid us, which is nothing.

8. Price

The app is free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no advertising. If that ever changes it will change for new versions, announced here, and never retroactively for a copy you already have.

9. Ending it

Delete the app. That removes your boards from the device and ends this agreement. We may stop distributing or updating Naastenka at any time; the copy you already have keeps working for as long as your devices will run it.

10. Changes to these terms

We may revise this page. The date at the top changes when we do, and continued use after that means the new version applies. Material changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.

11. Law and venue

Finnish law governs these terms, and disputes go to the Finnish courts — without prejudice to your right, as a consumer, to bring a claim in the courts of your own country of residence.
